Hi,
In short: Is there any way to insert a media player views block which takes notes of any present Node ID arguments?
At the moment the users build up playlists using Flag, and views puts those playlists together as text lists.
They are then inserted into the (content) profile pages with an argument 'only show the tracks which the user has flagged' . This gets the user ID from the node Page author and is inserted as a plain old view.
But what I would like to do is replace the text based playlist with a Mediafront OSM playlist, but I can only insert the Media player's view as a block, which cant have arguments passed through it.
Is there a method for getting Views arguments into the OSM playlist?
Many thanks for the great module,
Joe

joecanti commentedAnswered my own question here:
In the views argument, I clicked on 'provide default URL' and them chose User ID from URL, and clicked the 'also' box as well.
This means that each user has their own playlist on their content profile page which is excellent!
The more I use mediafront the more I like it... the level of views integration makes it amazing.

yannickoohey joecanti,
are you able to create multiple playlists?
joecanti commentedHi yan nick,
Yep sure. Just create multiple media front views. Any collection of music tracks (or videos) put together by views can be made into a media front playlist that can be made into a page display or a block display using views. So eg you could have the 10 newest tracks, or the 10 highest rated tracks - or all the tracks uploaded from a particular user or on a particular day.
The complication I had was that I wanted to create that playlist according to the node's author ID. So you go to the users content profile to see more info about them, and you then see a playlist of their favorite tracks - tracks which they have flagged. You cant pass these arguments through blocks in the standard way, hence the post.

yannickooThanks joe,
but I know that. I thought you're able to create multiple flag playlists like YouTube.
But I think that isn't able #340031: Make real private flags usable by only the user creating the flag :(

joecanti commentedHow do you mean 'multiple flag playlists' ? Do you mean users can make as many playlists as they want, and publish them? If so, no thats not on the cards for me. For now each user has one playlist which they can add tracks to using the flag module. this playlist is then displayed on their user page. You could make more Flags so they have a number of playlists but Im not sure how that would be made unlimited.

yannickooThe flag-guys said that "unlimited playlists per user" aren't possible :(
Comment #7
joecanti commentedThere may be another way to create unlimited playlists without using flag... You could add custom content types 'playlist' and 'track' and then probably use the node relativity module to link then together in a parent/child type of way. Views relationships would give you a way to pull all associated 'track' node mp3s into a list when a 'playlist' node is selected, which would open each playlist node up to Mediafront.
The playlists being nodes would also give you the option to add information to the playlist - like a title, a description, a picture etc etc.
I havent tried this method yet, but it's the way the mediafront creator. travis, has suggested on another post if i remember correctly.

Here is the tutorial on that... http://www.mediafront.org/documentation/drupalmediafront-osm-cms-integra...

yannickooBig thanks to Travis and Joe!!!
I use framsets for my site. It's better cause then the player doesn't stop when I change the page.
But one question: How can I play the album in my "header"-player?.

yannickooHow can I play a whole playlist in the player with jquery?

parasox commentedSorry for re-opening but this seems like the best place.
I'm following this tutorial: http://www.mediafront.org/documentation/drupalmediafront-osm-cms-integra...
However I can't use Content Templates, as I use DisplaySuite to handle my node displays not templates.
The way I call the player is to add a field to my content type of "Media Player" however I don't know how to alter and apply this PHP code to get my player to load its playlist. I tried messing around in the player preset but didn't get anywhere.
So basically if I'm using the CCK Field method of calling the Media Player, how do I pass through the node ID and the Playlist view name?
Thanks! Really hoping I can adopt this module on my site.

PluT0 commentedi was succed following tutorial on http://www.mediafront.org/documentation/drupalmediafront-osm-cms-integra... but still have no clue how to make it work on user generated playlist. any could share how to do this ?

joecanti commentedBy user generated do you mean 1. A playlist playing all content from a certain user or 2. A playlist created by a user of lots of different content - eg an 'add to my playlist' button below all your videos/music...
1. just add a user filter to views, or
2. you're going to have to use another module in order to mark the content as part of a playlist. Use the Flag module to create your playlist functionality - then when your users click the button (eg 'add to my playlist') the site will remember their choices. Then in views you can make a view which has a flagged content relationship and a user argument, so that when prompted it will return a list of videos/music that any given user has flagged as part of their playlist. This can then be made into a block display (with a default argument - user ID from URL) and inserted onto the user page. Now you'll have each users playlist appearing on their page, as views gets the argument from the URL.

yannickooBut with the flag module you can't create multiple playlists.
joecanti commentedYes - as mentioned in other posts Flag has no way of having users create new flags so multiple playlists are not possible. But there other ways to create multiple playlists. EG Use something like node relationships, and use a new content type 'playlist' as your parent with your music/videos content type as the 'child'. Then you can let users create new playlists and attach existing nodes to them. I havent tried this method, but I think node relationships module has good views support too, meaning you could use this and views to create your multiple mediafront playlists.

yannickooI use that way but the bad thing is the views integration. I can't display all playlists, with their playlist items :(

PluT0 commentedJoe Canti, Thanks for the replay...
This is what i have done with my views playlist :
1. Relationships
Flags: User's flagged content user_playlists
2. Arguments
User: Uid >> Provide default argument | Also look for a node and use the node author
3. Fields
Node: Title Title
4. Filters
Node: Type = Album Track << Just like on mediafront site tutorial
Node: Published Yes
I already add block and then when i try to preview.... but its still show no query to run.
nb: i use panel to import the view
