Hello,

I have recently assumed administration of an existing website which is in need of updating (many outdated modules, security updates, etc.) One of these modules is the Media module, currently at version 7.x-1.0-beta 4. Reading your documentation and past issues, I see there was a major switch between beta 4 and 5 using file entity and it doesn't appear it was the easiest of transitions for many users.

This website uses Media module heavily. Wiping Media module and then reinstalling is going to leave the very large task of manually fixing every photo on the site. Is it even possible to upgrade Media module from beta 4 to the latest release 1.2? Doing a quick update on a test copy, I receive these notices after completing the upgrade:

Notice: Undefined index: label in field_views_field_default_views_data() (line 120 of /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/cs/sites/all/modules/views/modules/field.views.inc).
Notice: Undefined index: base table in field_views_field_default_views_data() (line 132 of /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/cs/sites/all/modules/views/modules/field.views.inc).

Notice: Undefined index: entity keys in file_field_views_data_views_data_alter() (line 62 of /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/cs/sites/all/modules/views/modules/file.views.inc).

Would anyone be able to explain what these mean? What is the preferred best approach to update the media module to the latest release without starting from scratch?

Many thanks for the help and assistance.

Could anyone provide assistance? Even if it is a simple answer that the upgrade requires a complete overall, that would help.

Another alternative: is it possible to remove media module, leave the image files, reinstall the latest version, and batch add the image files back to the database?

Thanks again.

Subscribe.
File Entity seems to be the cause of my problem trying to upgrade to the lastest version of Media. File Entity is becoming it's own module for the 7.x-2 branch, but I'm using the latest stable version of Media which includes File Entity 7.x-1.2 and seem to be having all kinds of Schema/Database problems.

Anyone able to assist with this query? If its a simple matter of no, I'd appreciate the heads up so I can inform the client it will take longer to make the transition.

Thanks.

Besides those notices whats the problem when upgrading?

@rootatwc,

I realize this was quite some time ago when you asked this question. My apologies for the very late response as this project was placed on hold for a number of months.

The main thing I see is I do not have "View Library" tab. It simply does not display on the page. Other than that, the upgrade throws the notices above every time a page with an image pulled from the media library is accessed. It also generates warnings similar to the below:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in _field_info_prepare_instance() (line 312 of /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/cs/modules/field/field.info.inc)

In fact, all of these notices and warnings seem to point to either the "field" or "views" module. Could there be a connection between the "View Library" not showing up (I assume its a view) and these notices/warnings?

Thanks again for the assistance. I did completely remove the Media module and deleted everything in the database (via the admin panel), reinstalled, and no such luck fixing the issues.

hmm i would try disabling one by one media related modules that mess with files first

Edit: "View Library" is a view in 2.x branch, not 1.x

Thanks rootatwc...I wasn't sure if it was or not.

I'll try disabling one at a time to see if I can pinpoint a specific submodule.
