I have the same problem when trying to download any modules.

The connection has timed out
The server at ftp.drupal.org is taking too long to respond.

Which IP is ftp.drupal.org for you? It is 64.50.233.100 for me.

ftp.drupal.org is resolving to 140.211.166.134 from Australia.

For those who cannot reach the ftp.drupal.org, replace the URL with this: ftp://64.50.233.100/pub/drupal... Eg: ftp://64.50.233.100/pub/drupal/files/projects/drush-6.x-3.3.tar.gz

This is fixed for now. "ftp.drupal.org" is actually 3 servers in different parts of the US. Which you go to depends on where you come from and those people peered over I2 will end up in corvallis, a server which had an XFS issue earlier today. Usually it would have been taken out of rotation, but in this case the problem was quickly fixed.

Getting the following error when trying to install a new module through the admin interface:

HTTP error -110 occurred when trying to fetch http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/galleryformatter-7.x-1.x-dev.tar.gz.
Unable to retrieve Drupal project from http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/galleryformatter-7.x-1.x-dev.tar.gz.

Same error for other modules as well. Also tried wget on the server itself without success.

Probably an nslookup and traceroute would be helpful to debug this problem more than just "broken for me."

Would have gladly provided the requested info, but it's back up for me now (in the US). I could not access anything from about 8:30am (eastern) to 10am.

It is clearly a nameserver issue.

ftp.drupal.org is an alias for ftp.osuosl.org.
ftp.osuosl.org has address 140.211.166.134

However, 140.211.166.134:80 is not responding. Address ftp.drupal.org *should* point to 64.50.236.52 and 64.50.233.100. I hope they fix it soon.

@BigTimeSam - that's not the IP address I get. What makes you certain it's a problem with the OSUOSL DNS and not with your DNS provider?
