During a regeneration of thumbnails I noticed that watermarking of images suddenly stopped working. Also the Drupal logs show loads of php errors, like:

imagesx(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /srv/www/vhosts/blabla.com/httpdocs/sites/all/modules/imagecache_actions/watermark.inc on line 23.

The above failure is repeated with different function names.

Used modules:
- ImageAPI 5.x-1.5
- ImageCache 5.x-2.6
- ImageCache Actions 5.x-2.3

I confirmed that the supplied watermark file exists and is readable.

I'm seeing the same issue. I thought it was because my ImageAPI module was out of date, but I've updated to the newest with no change.

Some actions work fine, some work fine (but with errors displayed), others don't work at all.

Watermark breaks the image.
Reflect causes a black bar to appear on the side of the image.

Can't suggest what's up from this info. Could be a number of things.
I'd need instructions to replicate if it's not specific to your own system
