I find it awkward to go check on the results when creating or tuning a preset.
This patch shows a demo of the result right in the UI form, so you can see the changes.
Currently it just applies the preset to a default image (druplicon.png) and displays it, and a link, but the image chosen could be made configurable in a setting somewhere.
UI is not polished, but it helps ME a lot.

drewish CreditAttribution: drewish commentedinteresting idea but i'd want to see some method for cleaning up all the temp images... maybe we could just delete the file first before outputting the preview link?

dman CreditAttribution: dman commentedTemp images?
It creates a single one inside the preset folder. Using the preset invocation as normal.
When the preset is modified, it gets flushed along with the rest.
You end up with one sample image per preset.

Anything useful I can do to improve it?

drewish CreditAttribution: drewish commentedHad a little time to work on this. I did some cleanup and added in the big druplicon logo from http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/docs/marketing/logo... so you can see how the actions will affect larger images.
Thanks! Committed to HEAD.

drewish CreditAttribution: drewish commentedI was considering the 5.x-2.x branch closed to features but this is so freaking useful that I'm willing to backport it.
