I am building an E-Commerce site that utilizes ubercart and image cache, the problem I running into is that when I have a public file system the image cache thumbnails show up fine, but when I turn on private file system all the thumbnail links break but the target links remain. I have looked through the source and noticed the addition of the /system directory when using the private method, Im assuming this is what is breaking my image links.
So is it possible to use image cache and a private drupal file system, maybe change the directory where image cache stores its images so it is not in the /files directory at all??
Thanks

drewish commentedimagecache works fine with private file transfers. the /system/files prefix to the paths is how drupal knows to serve the files. what are you using to call imagecache?

r00tk1ll commentedJust so you know I am using IC v1.5 due to ubercart recommendation, the process happens automatically through the product creation process, however even when I try to make a view I still have missing thumbnails and working links, what steps should I take to investigate this problem because I am new to how image cache works

rbisso commentedI'm having the same issue... I'm trying to build a public portfolio section of my site, but I've got a bunch of private sections that I don't want to be accessible, so I have my file system set to private. What are the dangers of setting the file system to public? Is there a way to set permissions for individual folders, such as the folder where my imagecache thumbs are stored?

dopry commentedIC 1.5 isn't supported and doesn't support private files.
