Hi. As far i know, when i do

<? print theme("imagecache","preset",$path)?>

the system creates the file adjusting image to presets.

Is there any other way to create this "preseted" image without having to call these function?
Is there a way to force imagecache to work when the users upload any image?

You could probably hook node api and do a drupal_http_request for various imagecache urls by inspecting node->files on save... I would rather have a hook_file though.
