Hi!

This is a working group that will be working on a Hospitality Network module/web site that will be used by travelling drupal people to connect with locals. Hospitality networks allow local hosts to post their availability as well as travellers to post their plans. The group is not regional though it's geographical in the sense that it makes connections between local communities.

Currently our discussion does not fit into any existing group.
I searched and browsed g.d.o extensively to make sure there's no duplicate effort.
So I created this one: http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-hospitality-connect-travelers-drupal-com...

Ever since I was hosted locally at DrupalCon London I've been thinking that connecting travellers and local people from the drupal community is a good way to strengthen our network and the Drupal project. Now recently with the BAM initiative becoming more important, I was able to get some really supportive comments from 2-3 people and we're now at least 2 people who are really eager to continue working on this.

The group is Open and we have no plans of Closing it.
We see it having a long purpose. It's a long term initiative that will strengthen the overall drupal community and spread drupal to areas where it's currently less significant.

Hope you can approve the group, and please don't hesitate to ask should anything be unclear or if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Thanks, silwerwing. I'm new to this process. Does +1 mean that it's been approved, and what will happen next? Thanks again for considering approval of this group :)

svenryen, the new guidelines for approving groups say that two +1 votes from moderators are needed in order for the group to be approved. The guidelines are at http://groups.drupal.org/node/253733 :)

Looks good to me. I moved it out of moderation. svenryen, I'd encourage you to add more organizers, to avoid the group getting stuck with no organizer whenever you're unavailable.

The new guideline is much clearer than the old ones. They were apparently posted the day after I submitted my issue. Thanks heaps for taking the time to comment, +1 and approve! That's highly appreciated, though I have to share that the long waiting time was quite demotivating as I had quite a lot of energy when the group was initially created. I totally understand that the moderators are too busy, though if that's the case I would also recommend an outreach to the community to get more moderators on board (to help out whenever the current moderators are unavailable ;) ).

We do seem to need more moderators, thanks for the push to do something about that. We specifically need moderators with a good understanding of what is and is not an appropriate group for groups.drupal.org, so I think the first step is probably establishing a good on-boarding process to help new moderators gain that understanding, which probably involves more documentation. I'll try to move this forward soon, as I have time.
