Geofield Map and D8

Subscribing - I’m also wanting to achieve the same. I’m looking at geolocation module and trying to work out how we could possibly reuse some of the work in there.

Subscribing! A map widget as form display formatter with geocoder functionality is desperatly needed!

Actually the D8 Geofield module doesn't provide any more its D7 submodule named Geofield Map, that provided a Google Map formatter.
The D8 Geofield Map module is now a standalone project that implements a Map widget for Geofield, and that is planning to provide also a Map formatter in the next future (I am its maintainer).
Thus nowadays (in this meanwhile) the best way to format the Geofield with a Map is to look at the Leaflet module that perfectly integrates with Geofield ...

Just a very meaningful update on this.
Since the 8.x-1.5 release the D8 Geofield Map module now provides a brand new Google Map formatter and a dedicated Google Map View style plugin, both with highly customizable setup, Marker and Infowindow specfications and Markers Clustering capabilities.
PS: Although in mind, there is no Leaflet Map library support at the moment for the Geofield Map Formatter and the Map Views Plugin. Please refer to the Leaflet and the Leaflet Markercluster modules for Leaflet front-end mapping of Drupal 8 Geofields

It’d be really nice if IP Geolocation Views & Maps (ip_geoloc) would get their D8 version off the ground.
