I run a site where I was making fairly extensive use of views using the photoset filter. This used to display one image per photoset (the image chosen to represent the photoset on Flickr).

After upgrading however, it now displays all images in the photoset. I'm guessing this is due to the patch submitted at the end of this issue:
http://drupal.org/node/262591

I'm sure for many applications this is an improvement. However, for generating photogallery-style views using photosets, this change actually takes away a significant functionality, or is even a bug -- what were once grids displaying a few dozen images that linked to full photosets are now pages containing hundreds of images.

Is there a to access the original behavior of displaying a single image instead of the whole photoset?

Thank you,
Eric

Well, here is what I came up with -- I added a theme override that more or less restored the original behavior of displaying the photoset image and title instead of all images in the photoset.

/**
 * Override the flickrfield_photoset template.
 */
function THEMENAME_flickrfield_photoset($img, $photo_url, $formatter, $photo_data, $node) {
  if (module_exists('flickr_sets')) {
    $title = is_array($photo_data['title']) ? $photo_data['title']['_content'] : $photo_data['title'];
    if (arg(0) == 'node' && arg(1) == $node->nid) {
      $output = '<div class="flickr-photoset-img">'. $img .'</div>';
    }
    else {
      $output = '<div class="flickr-photoset-img">'. l($img, 'node/'. $node->nid, array('attributes' => array('title' => $title), 'absolute' => TRUE, 'html' => TRUE)) . '</div>';
    }
    $output .= '<div class="flickr-citation"><cite>'. l(t('Source: Flickr'), $photo_url) .'</cite></div>';
    return $output;
  }
}

Disable the sub-module Flickr Sets and you have the 'old' behaviour back. You still have a 'Flickr Photo' field available that can be used to hold a single photo or a photoset. I case of a photoset it displays only one image and has a link to the set under it. Only if you enable the sub-module Flickr Sets it will displays the amount of images as defined at 'admin/settings/flickr'.

The 'Flickr Photoset' field always displays the set's primary image. This field has several formatters to choose from at 'admin/content/node-type/[node_type]/display'. Both size and target link can be defined when clicking the image.

The 'Flickr Photo' field has only a size formatter field available at the same settings page. The fact that two types of Flickr fields exist (Flickr Photo and Flickr Photosets) that both can be used for photosets is a bit confusing.

Feel free to reopen if I misunderstood the issue.

Thanks.

#2 seems to be true on an existing install. How is the behaviour on a new install if the Photo set ID widget does not exist yet? To explore. Setting as a task.

Fo r D7 we wrote up a small guide what the behavior is with of without the Flickr Sets module enabled. See https://www.drupal.org/node/2226579#disable.

For the status change on D6 see #2367755: D6 maintenance.

Thanks.

Setting this back to D7 and being 'fixed (closed)'.

Main reason is the fact that links to this issue show the status on hover without revealing the version (6 or 7). This might give the impression that the mentioned issue will not be solved, while in fact it is already fixed for the D7 version. 'Fixed (closed)' reflects the current status correctly for D7. 'Closed (won't fix)' is only valid for the minimally maintained D6 version of the module.
