How to share files between several sites

Ass FF is based on bitcache, it seems possible to host bitstreams on an external site.
This potentially open the possibility to access these bitstreams from different, separate sites.
However, RDF seems to only define "local repositories" for storing meta data

Would it be possible to actually share the files between several sites using FF?
If yes, how to proceed?
