When I run the FeaturesEnableTestCase test I get the following error:

Call to undefined function taxonomy_features_api() - features.test - line 211

Using git bisect I found that this has been introduced in commit 24247b41 from #1587200: Test module should be hidden.

Removed the patch from #1187232: Hidden and disabled features should not be displayed in UI and should not be considered for conflicts that seems to have caused Features to break on Hidden modules. Committed to 7.x-1.x in 05c9af6. Let me know if this fixes the SimpleText.

@mpotter: don't you think it is a good idea to enable automated testing for Features? You can enable it by going to the project page and clicking on Edit > Issues, and enabling the option in the "Testing" fieldset.

You should not reply to old issues like this. They are closed and only a very small number of people see them.

In any case, it sounds like you aren't using the latest version of Features. The Features 1.x branch is deprecated, so you need to use the 2.6 version.

Thanks, I'll open a separate ticket for that. Just thought that historical reference to a previous issue would help. I see this issue on a latest version of Features 2.6.
