When a user clicks on the "E" to embed a node, would it be possible to utilize a more robust selection mechanism (like that of the Node Embed module) where a user can filter, search, and see images (if it applies)?

Also, is there a way this module could allow users to select Views (content panes, blocks, etc.) as the display formats?

Yes, the idea is that once the Entity Browser module is more feature complete and ready for use, we'll recommend for most installations to have that module enabled, and it will swap out the simple selection with the entity browser UI.

Your options for displaying nodes are limited to the default plugin, or any entity reference field formatters that work for nodes. If you want to embed Views, blocks, etc, why not add a button to embed Views themselves?

Blargh, I see this was filed against 7.x-1.x. Not sure what the plan is for that branch since Entity Browser is a D8 only project.

Once it becomes stable, Entity Browser may be backported to some degree and could tie into Entity Embed as it does in Drupal 8. The ability to select field formatters when embedding an entity in D7 would be nice but I haven't had time to implement it (patches are welcome!).

hi
it would really be nice having this worked in d7.. for some of our existing project.

Thanks
