I wanted to create a DS layout that split each region into a separate tab (using bootstrap tabs).
I wanted flexibility for the tab titles per content type rather than them just using the region title specified in the layout settings.
I've created this patch which adds a custom region title to the manage display/manage fields form and lets you override the predefined region title. This is reflected in the admin UI and also made available in the layout template file as $[region_name]_title.
Is this something you'd consider including in DS?

aspilicious commentedI'm not going to add new features to the Drupal 7.
The region stuff is slowly moving to drupal core, so chances are small a similar patch will be accepted by core.
But thank you for the patch, maybe others can enjoy it.
