The Book Page Navigation disappears if you decide to change the layout for the full mode. And there is no option to replace it. Those navigation links at the bottom is what separates book pages from other content types so it defeats the purpose if they disappear.

Hi, I've added the "book navigation" field, but it's always rendered on the bottom (below comments) even if it has set to be displayed first, I'm using D7.15 and latest 7.x-2.x DS version. Should I report it separately?

Be aware that if you are working with a content type that is not Book page, the Book navigation field will not get displayed at least you set that content type to be a book at /admin/content/book/settings.

Here is the formula to make this Book navigation field works:

  1. Create your content type.
  2. Go to /admin/content/book/settings and under Content types allowed in book outlines make sure your content type is checked.
  3. Go to Manage Display tab for your content type and under Custom Display Settings enable Full content.
  4. Click on the new Full content sub-tab and set a Display Suite layout.
  5. After you save the changes the new Book navigation field should be there.

I hope this saves you the hours that I spent debugging it :P

If I check "View mode per node" on displays extras and create new view mode to use it on book sections (few nodes) there is not book navigation field to use or to drag&drop in the ds'es display managment tab (admin/structure/types/manage/[content-type]/display/[new-view-mode]). There is book navigation in admin/structure/ds/fields, but not in admin/structure/types/manage/[content-type]/display/[new-view-mode].

I have the same problem on comment #7. The Book Navigation is always located under the comment form.

can seem to get this to work following the instructions. Do I have to rebuild the content type from scratch to make it work?

Edit, NP I see book outline now in the disabled part of the custom display.
