Convert project module to use CCK fields?

I was a little surprise when I tried out the installation profile to discover that CCK isn't included in the makefile. Then I discovered that CCK is barely used at all, except in the Marketplace module which was build using Features (also hardly used). I imagine this is because a lot of the functionality in Drupal.org was built before CCK was an option, but I wonder if there are any plans to convert some of the content types to use CCK. For example, the issue content type on d.o. includes fields for "project help," "project information," "issue information" and "issue details," which are supplied by the project_issue module rather than by CCK. It seems that putting those fields into CCK (and then into Fields in D7) would make future development of issues-related functionality easier. Are there plans to make that sort of change going forward?
