Agenda

  • Alert about conflict between high-profile contributors and a user in IRC; still waiting on official report.
  • Discussion about strategies to resolve issues between key project contributors. One suggestion was to get together key leaders + people who we get frequent reports about, hold real-time, facilitated discussion with conflict mediation expert, try and empower people with strategies for managing conflicts themselves.
  • Also need to "crowd-source" the idea of "If you see something, say something" (in the moment, in the same venue — IRC/twitter/etc.) Upholding Code of Conduct is community responsibility. How do we help community members feel empowered to do this, especially when the perpetrator has a ton of karma?
  • Angie provided an update from the Google Summer of Code reunion on the idea of getting a bunch of open source projects together to develop "community standards" (code of conduct, anti-harassment policies, etc.) that projects could sign on to, and possibly unite conflict resolution processes/resources as well. Exact proposal still forming; hopefully more updates on this later.
  • Report of trolling comment; report acknowledged, deferred until next week.

Decisions/Actions Taken

None.

Action Items

  • Angie to report back to GSoC group about the importance of preserving the "local" culture for each project; this is key to acceptance of such community standards.

Since I'm doing issue queue maintenance, it was suggested that I mark a credit for myself. So I'll do that here.
