From a usability point of view it might be useful for the admin interface to auto focus on the first field for repetitive tasks.
I noticed a need for this when adding taxonomy terms, that's a pretty good example of where it would be useful.

I believe that an issue is / was opened for this already (cannot find it) and that the consensus was leading toward not adding autofocus. Partly for accessibility reasons, partly for consistency.
