When you go to Modules to install one very often you see a 'Missing Module' sign.

To find the missing module sometimes take lots of hours.

A linkable 'Missing Module' for the download or the project of it saves lots of time for people installing Drupal.

IMHO, this should be considered for Drupal 8 core. It would be quite some UX-improvement, especially for Drupal newcomers but also for the non-trivial cases where the module isn't easily found.

This would require URLs of the hosting project for every single dependency, which could be added at packaging time to the *.info files.
In most cases that should work fine, in some cases however a runtime lookup on Drupal.org might be necessary. But either at packaging time or at runtime, some live lookup service would be needed anyway.
