It seems that the new version of Date module (6.x-2.4) may have broken this. Can anyone else confirm?

I'm using it with Calendar 2.4 and Date 2.7. It creates the right number of nodes with the right data.

The problem I've noticed is that there seem to be extra, crossed URL values. I've got an Event type (where my dates live) that uses automatic alias values: events/[field_time-date]/[title-raw]

I've just created 4 test events and have URLs in the url_alias table (honest!):

events/2012-01-16/test-event -> node/181 (1/16/2012)
events/2012-01-16/test-event -> node/182 (2/20/2012)
events/2012-02-20/test-event -> node/182 (2/20/2012)
events/2012-02-20/test-event -> node/183 (3/19/2012)
events/2012-03-19/test-event -> node/183 (3/19/2012)

I've also got node/180 (12/19/2011)

Is this what you noticed?

I need this feature to work, with automatic alias values. I've tried Node Repeat and Date Repeat Instance. Neither does what I want/need.

I plan to get that part working ASAP. (I'm an experienced software developer, although I haven't done much with PHP.)

The most recent release (6.x-2.x-dev) is working with the current version of Date and Calendar as noted above. (It also works with pathauto.)
