Hi,

today we tried to create a glossary over a CCK text field used for surenames and lost around three hours figuring out whats happening.
The query build by views was not the problem as I first feared but there is a mysql bug.
SUBSTR produces wrong result if it used within function with utf8 and with TEXT

Views uses groupby and substr in glossary mode. Our webserver is running Debian Etch MySQL Server Version: 5.0.32-Debian_7etch11-log.

This bug is showing on all systems but I still thought it would be nice to prevent people from pulling out their hair and made a patch to utilize hook_views_analyze(). By this I display a warning if a text field argument handler is found that is set to glossary mode and uses the mysql TEXT type.

My english is not the best but I still hope the warning makes sense.

Thanks to dereine for the support!
