CCK FieldGroups Not Respecting HIde Exclude OR Hide Feature

i'm also wondering whether i've done something wrong here.

i've checked the exclude checkboxes for the field i want to hide for both teaser and full node, and even cleared the cache and edited and resaved the node, but can't seem to stop the field from being displayed.

The exclude checkboxes work fine on my setup for both fields and fieldgroups. You guys will need to provide more information on your exact site setup :
exact settings used on the 'display fields' tab, which theme, which node templates are you using, what's the content of the node template...
