I am getting an access denied Page when setting group form display to collapsed or tabs, I can only use the default when configuring field groups.

I cannot reproduce this. When exactly do you get the 'Access denied' (when viewing which page) ?

It seems you have the fieldgroup tabs module enabled. Can you try disabling it and see if the problem persists ?

Also, I just fixed a few errors causing 'unknown indexes' PHP warnings. Those should be unrelated, but you might want to try latest -dev code, just in case.
