Is there any way to sync fields in the Drupal database (by tokens?) to the custom fields in Campaign Monitor? If not, how might this functionality be implemented? I could try making a patch, but I'd like some advice on the approach first.

The previous versions of this module did have some field syncing code but I didn't implement this because it wasn't a requirement. If you are not able to do this yourself, I'd advise having someone help you with it and contributing back to this module.

Thanks, I'll switch this to a feature request then. I'll look into adding this (no fixed timetable), and if I get it working I'll contribute it as a patch.

This would be a great feature. We're looking to use smart transactional emails to have all email templates and campaigns hosted by Campaign Monitor while populating the content from a content type.

For example, this would allow a "Media Release" to be created in Drupal then have the option to send the content via Campaign Monitor.
