The Bootstrap theme works fine, but there's one feature I'd like to change: I would like to trigger the collapsed navbar when the visitor uses a tablet / iPad in portrait mode.

I've been Googling around and searching the issue queue, but couldn't find anything that can help me out. There's this 2 month old topic for the current dev-version, but since the structure of the dev-version looks very different than the 3.0 version, I thought it would be safer to stick with the 3.0 (the project is more or less finished).

I had a look at variables.less in my subtheme, changed @screen-sm: 768px to 769 and 767, but it doesn't seem to respond (after flushing caches). Could it be that these changes are overridden with the CDN-version anyway?

Yes, if you have the CDN enabled, it will override your local styles... you shouldn't be doing both.

Scripted response: This issue has been closed while cleaning up the issue queue.

This solution works for me, disregarding of what starting kit is being used (Less or CDN):

@media only screen and (max-width: 768px) {

  .navbar-collapse.collapse {
    display: none !important;
  }
  .navbar-collapse.collapse.in {
    display: block !important;
  }
  .navbar-header .collapse, .navbar-toggle {
    display:block !important;
  }
  .navbar-header {
    float: none;
  }

}
