I have the same issue in the new region Frankfurt. This post explains it: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26533245/the-authorization-mechanism-...

The problem is the old V2 auth mechanism isn't supported in new regions.

Version: 7.x-3.0 » 7.x-3.1

This is still an issue in 3.1, and occurs with the newly-added Canada (Central) region.

This is happening in all 7.x versions. The library seems to be the problem

Was able to get it to work by setting the bucket's region to US standard. It was set to Ohio

I made my first bucket in the region that Amazon had as default, which in my case was Ohio. There wasn't any region set as US standard, but I found in documentation elsewhere (old, I guess) that Amazon's "default" location was N Virginia. The Ohio bucket didn't work, but the N. Virginia one did - so pick N Virgina when making your bucket.

@jmcoder2 thanks for the solution. Please test with the new 7.x-3.2 version and see if the problem has been resolved or follow the manual solutions in comments #5 and #6. Also note that a stable version for D8 is expected soon for sites migrating to D8.
