cyberswat: so I decided to test autoassignrole with no other modules at all, on a new install of drupal (it's v 5.3, if u think that matters I will update for this test).
I have Automatic Role Assignment 'Disabled'.
User Role Assignment is 'Enabled':
I checked two roles, which I want users to select from
Selected 'Single Role'
Added some content for User Role Title & User Role Description.
Maybe I did something wrong, because the first user I try get's this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: array_intersect_key() in /home/scott/public_html/njsavings/sites/all/modules/autoassignrole/autoassignrole.module on line 177
this is an error when an anonymous user clicks 'create new account' - I don't even get to the register page.
Where should I go from here?

scottrigbyoh - the same error happens when I try to add a user as the admin.

cyberswat commentedThanks for helping me troubleshoot this in irc ... array_intersect_key is a php5 function ... modifed the code to work on older versions of php http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=98851

scottrigbyyeah, np -- this is a necessary module - thx for doing it!
edit:
oh, I should have said - have been using this exhaustively since (D5.7) and no problems since the patch :D
