It would be nice to be able to choose which roles that have been activated in the auto assign role (auto and user chosen) are going to need an administrator approval like the module Registration Role with Approval. As this module is not ported to D7 yet, and the AAR module has all the functionnalities of it, except the approval feature, the 2 modules could be merged into one unique module (AAR).

@ben kuper: This functionality was removed from the patch that actually got committed, wasn't it? I'm working on this for 6.x in #1087464: How to Make some roles require Admin approval. FYI. Maybe you can port my patch once I finish it. Going to mark this a duplicate, but if you disagree just change it back. This will at least get someone's attention maybe :)
