On the sprint assignment page at /scrum/backlog/assign there's a "bulk operations" bar and i can select individual user stories or all user stories by checkbox, but then there is nothing i can do with them. Is there some missing VBO UI configuration ?

You need to have created a sprint in order to be able to assign stories to it. I'll have to think of something sensible to do in the event that we haven;t created a sprint yet, though. I'm open to suggestions.

I've got 5 sprints created and they are being listed in the SPrint overview / dashboard page.
I have 2 stories assigned to two different sprints for testing.

hmm... it's working for me, on a brand new site. See attached screenshot. Is there anything you can suggest that might help me to reproduce this?

My version of VBO was out of date on this Atrium dev install.

Upgraded from 6.x-1.10 to 6.x-1.13 and the sprint drop down in your screenshot now appears.
