After I updated the archive module the updater tells me to update this module again???

I'm not really sure what's causing this problem. I'll be releasing another update for 6.x-1 shortly, so update to that and see if that solves the problem.

This is more of an issue with the update module. Please post an issue there, though I'd recommend updating to 1.2 and seeing if that fixes the problem.
