Perhaps this is more of a question for the AdSense forums, where I've also posted this. Nonetheless, maybe one of you who uses revenue sharing can answer these two questions for me.

1.) What if I have an unsavory user who is using revenue sharing and generates a bunch of click fraud? Will I lose my account as well as the malicious user?

2.) If every user has access to using revenue sharing, how do you expect to make any money from AdSense when no one can click on any ads. Do you basically have to hope that there are a lot of anonymous users out there surfing around and eventually clicking on ads? Is there therefore a way to restrict adsense revenue sharing by role?

I realize these are more concept questions and not technical ones, but this is the most appropriate group to answer them. Thanks!

When I was trying to make a revenue-sharing site I have come across this problem. When a user browsing his own articles, the ads will be shown up from his own ID, which is a risky thing, as he/she can tend to click it. Senserely .com uses such modified module, where I login and browse my article, it will show the site owner's ads and not from my Adsense ID. When I logout and see my article, it shows ads from ID.

So, I hope this module programmers will come up with that ability in this module.

1.) If he comes as anonymous and clicks his own ads, the ID that shows up while he is on the page will eventually be banned by google.

2.) Don't show Adsense to authenticated users. Your users will love it (because they are not disturbed by ads) and they wouldnt click the ads anyway. Earn money with anon users.

If you want to prevent click fraud and be sure to have informations on who tried to do the fraud (time, IP etc.) take a look at "asrep (http://www.asrep.com/)". It works very well with Drupal and sends reports via email (and can also prevent clickfraud in the paid version). IF google would ban you, you could send them the reports to make sure, that it was not you who clicked.

Isn't there any way to hide Adsense on the basis of the IP address of the co-author?

yes, users clicking n their own ads is a potential issue.

Would be nice if it could be solved with registration of IP address of users. Does not sound simple though.. (subscribing)

Hi,

Well, with enough PHP code, the new 'PHP visibility' setting for AdSense could be used to hide an ad if the current user is the author of the node.

It seems simple (in theory) but I would invite anyone interested in it to write the code and submit it here so that it may be included in the module's documentation.

yes, that could eventually be done. Still PHP visibility reduces a lot the end user flexibility and ease of use of blocks.

Probably once such a code is written, it wouldn't be much more difficult to turn it into a setting (checkbox).

Marking this as 'active' again to prevent it from being automatically closed in a week without a solution.

I am marking this as a duplicate of #122014: Revenue Sharing - Hide own ID when logged in, as that's basically what's being discussed here (hide ads with user's own ID when logged in). Since IP-based solutions are so failure-prone, preventing the user from seeing its own ads when he is logged in is the max that can be done in this case.
