The same problem!

When menu is shown in another language the order of submenues is changed according to foreign alphabet.

So using of such a menu is impossible.

It is even worse when you have an RTL language the admin theme switches to RTL also. There should be some kind of coherent separation between administration and content.

Same problem here: Administration Menu is providing links only in default language.. :/

My tip (I use Drupal 7):

Install the module Administration language (http://drupal.org/project/admin_language), set the permissions "Administration language", and then configure it (Drupal 7) at "Home » Administration » Configuration » Regional and language » Languages -> Administration language".

Then each admin can choose his admin-language, if the UID=1 wants that.

I have tried the suggestion by wusel at #6 but with no luck.

Did you configure this module proper (I normaly enable all options)?
Look at No. 4. of "Last Step: Add your language and the language settings" on Cookbook: Build a non-English D7 website (https://www.drupal.org/node/2314699).

and at
Language-config
from https://www.drupal.org/project/admin_language

and
within your own profile!

Good luck!

Dear wusel,

Thanks very much for the input. I have followed your instructions but with no luck. My main problem with Admin Menu is that it switches to the top right side of the window when the page displayed is Arabic. I want it ti stay the same (English on the top left corner) with no relation to current displayed page's language.

Thank you, I wish you the best.

Dear W.M
Have you got any solution for not changing the admin toolbar to RTL while using a RTL language?
Thanks

@mohammadyou,

God's peace and blessings be upon you,

Unfortunately, I have not found a solution yet. Actually, I have not got time yet to study the problem and possible solution yet.

Hi,

The administration language module provides an option "Use administration language in the administration menu", You may select this.

Adding my two cents to this, even though it's an old (but still important) thread.

To begin with, the administration language module doesn't always work properly. It is quite buggy when it comes to the toolbar and I haven't been able to translate the toolbar at all. It works with English but not with any other language I have tried.

Then again, you COULD hardcode the admin menu module to use a certain language. I haven't thought this through yet and this is just a starting point, but this is basically what I did to try to see how stuff works:

1. In admin_menu.module file locate the function admin_menu_page_build.
2. In that function, under the line where $user and $language are made global (line 157 I think), add these variables:

global $user, $language;
$curlang = $language; // store the current language
$languages = language_list('enabled'); // get a list of enabled languages
$toolbarlang = $languages[1]["fi"]; // select one of them (Finnish in this case)
$language = $toolbarlang; // set that language to be used

3. Before the closing bracket of the function, add this to set the language back to what it was:

$language = $curlang;
}

Yes, I know this is not a good solution so don't rage about it, but based on this information I don't think it would be hard to create a small custom module to achieve the same result.

Try #14, nothing happen.

#14 Does not work

Weird finding my own answer after a couple of years, but I had this problem once again. Didn't even remember I had answered this in the past and I don't know why #14 hasn't worked for you guys, it still works for me. Could be a difference in the setup of language detection or something similar.

I have set URL as the only detection method to both interface and content.
