I'm trying to get the photo banner to appear in Acquia Slate 3.x. I read these instructions in the handbook for 2.x:

The banner image in Acquia Slate (the big image on the front page and background image within content-top region) can be activated by either turning on the site's mission statement or by adding blocks to the "Front Preface Sidebar" region. Addtionally, the "Content top" region contains the same banner image as its background. Adding blocks to the "Content top" region will display the banner image as its background.

I can't find "Front Preface Sidebar" on the blocks page nor any place to turn on a mission statement. I've read through most of the Fusion handbook but I'm still not sure how to accomplish this. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

The Mission Statement can be specified in the 4th text area on this page of your site: admin/settings/site-information

don't know that there is a preface region in 3.x. I can state that it is indeed part of 2.x

Enabling the banner in Acquia Slate 3.x is different than in 2.x; the Mission Statement is no longer used.

First, you need to go to admin/build/skinr/rules to create a new rule. Name it anything that seems appropriate. Then, scroll about halfway down the page and select one of the Banner Styles (the list of banner images available). Click on the Save button.

Next, place a block in the Preface Top area. You can apply any of the various Skinr styles to it; the Dark transparent background style is a good one as the image will also appear behind the block.

hi, thanks for this, it seems to be what I need to do, however i can't get to admin/build/skinr/rules to create a new rule. do i have to enable something to see this path? from admin/build i can only get to blocks, menus, modules, themes, or settings. i tried "modules" but it never allows you to click on skinr to configure.

For the Photo Banner to work you'll need to use the 2.x version of Skinr which is still in Development. The instructions are here: http://fusiondrupalthemes.com/support/theme-developers/future-roadmap/in.... Better grab a few cups of coffee for this!

oh, ok. i may just resort to using the 2.x version of acquia slate. im hesitant to use something that's still in deve stage. but thanks for all your help anyways!

Thanks for the advice mjohnq3, but the URL admin/build/skinr/rules is not supported on my platform. I must have a missing module or something. I've installed AS 3.x, Fusion, and skinr but there is no mention of rules under my admin menus.

The only thing I can think of offhand is that you need to make sure you're using the 6.x-2.x version of Skinr, and follow the instructions here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/53798. There are quite a few dependencies on other modules.
