I have 4 businesses, all of which have there own domains. I would like to write articles/pages/blogs in a central location, and then - based on content & choice - publish to selected sites.

Has anyone heard of, or done thios type of thing with the Modules in place. If I have to write an API, I suppose I will, when: copy/paste -> move sites, copy/paste -> move sites, copy/paste -> move sites starts to big a hassle.

I'm also interested in the multi-site set-up, but haven't got there yet. Maybe there's a way of hitting two birds...

For what you have described, it sounds like the cost-effective way would be to check out a blog client. Most blog clients will allow for multi-site posting. It might be the best way to do it without having to invest in creating an API or module to do the job.

I would check out Qumana (Windows) or Ecto (Mac). They are decent products I would recommend.

Are these "blog clients" something that I would use in conjunction with Drupal? I'm not wanting to use another CMS, for web development.

I am not sure if this is exactly what the person meant, but perhaps by using RSS feeds from your blog, like a news site? Drupal itself also makes RSS feeds. So, for example, you can post on Site A, and use Site B's news aggregator to get the feed from Site A. It won't be the full news article, though. A little like this page? http://drupal.org/talk

There is also I think, or there was, a blog api, to be able to post to drupal using a blog client.

If you want a multi site install, I am told by the authorities all your sites must be on the same server. Also, please be careful in how you set up your configuration, since it's hard to go back once you mess up. :)

Thanks for the warnings!

I'm still working on my test site.

Once I get the basics (almost there - I think :-), I'l do the multi-site setup and figure out the "publishing to multiple sites" thing.

Yes, that is also an option is to use RSS feeds to bring the content from one site to another. It isn't as clean as a single post per site, but it does the job! :)

I got it to work; made a rookie error: used Drpual account username instead of "admin".

I think this may be a viable option.

Are software packages that allow you to create "posts" on your desktop/laptop computer and then post them to your Drupal site when they are completed. An option they have is being able to post the same content to multiple sites (regardless of the CMS software they are using) at the same time. Or if you want the same content with minor changes you are able to do that.

Do you have experience with Quamana?

Even if no, maybe you can point out the error in my thinking/process:

Qumana prompted me to provide platform information and login information.

Platform: I chose Blogger (which was what I chose in "settings")
Endpoint: http://mysite.com/?q=blog

username & password.

Error message saying "Method returned nullresult".

I'm guessing I've got the "enpoint" wrong, but not sure what to use.

Any thoughts?

I've been trying to find out how to connect Qumana to Drupal and I think I'm nearly there but seem to be failing to get it to work - is there any chance you could email over the PDF that you mentioned in your posting.

Qumana is written in Java and is available for both macs and windows.

Last I checked it had the option of selecting drupal as the platform. The end-point is usually http://www.example.com/xmlrpc.php

I installed Qumana, and it worked slick. I'm still interested in a Drupal API, but until then, I think this will work. Boris Mann mentioned a module that may be an option as well, that I'm trying to find.

Or look at the publish / subscribe modules, which let you post content on one site, and then set up rules for pushing content to remote sites which have the subscribe module installed.
