it takes about 3 hours to convert a 30min MPEG to FLA.. I'm using macromedia flash video encoder..
is there anything that converts faster?

Whatever it was would have to encode the Sorenson Spark codec. I know you could upgrade to a pro version of Sorenson Spark. This may give you some batch editing capabilities, but probably not a speed increase.

Video encoding is pretty intensive stuff, perhaps it takes as long as it takes?

how come google video and youtube converts soooo fast? I know they use on2 codec..which is the same for macromedia

they also have powerfull servers with multiable cpu. You can though more cpu and ram into your machine and it will make it faster.

I use Sorenson Squeeze for converting videos to .FLA format. It's relatively fast, has batch capabilities and I think one of the best compressions.
