I wonder if Drupal is dying due to a lack of donations or something? It seems like progress slowed down a little, lately.

Drupal is not dying, what ever gave you that thought..
Drupal is growing at a fast pace, in fact, it's growing so fast that many people like myself have a difficult time keeping up. 4430 modules to date that I am aware of.

D7 is very active and promises to be even better than D6, if you can imagine that.

Since you brought this up, are you an association contributor?
Contributing to the association helps Drupal in many ways.

There's 9700 projects according to the usage stats. :) Of course, not all of them are actively used. Looks like 3749 that are on at least 100 sites. But that's growing all the time. Every day there are new projects released. Can't even keep up anymore. LOL!

Drupal is loosing contributors.

Developers that does not comply with the status quo are bashed, and people get his comments blatantly deleted from the discussions if some serious mistakes are exposed.

The lack of maturity (at least, from the site maintainers) are... terrilble.

Dying? LOL! Whatever gave you that crazy idea. :)

No, Drupal isn't dying. In fact, it's growing so fast that its greatest problem is a shortage of Drupal experts because the demand for them is so great.

Drupal 7 is strong and growing stronger all the time as more and more contrib modules are ported. Drupal 8 is in development and there are a lot of exciting improvements going on.

The recent DrupalCon had over three thousand people in attendance and they have now added another DrupalCon to the schedule.

Like any community, we have occasional arguments and trolls that spout FUD and disgruntled members who move on for whatever reason but that's normal. When you have a community of hundreds of thousands of people, not everyone will get along. But, overall, Drupal is doing wonderfully and the community is strong enough to get over any rough patches.

No way is Drupal dying, we are noticing more and more clients looking for candidates with Drupal skills.

Certainly from what we see, it's a good time to be developing in Drupal and rates are likely to increase as the demand grows.
