What does a Drupal Book look like when you have the rights to contribute and how does it compare to a Wiki?
I want to see it in an environment where you maintain a page, track the history, allow editing and allow comments. Would be nice if you also can get alerts when somebody make a change and if it would be possible for certain sections or pages to include some workflow approval.
Is there also a possibilty to apply publishing date?

You will find answers to your questions at this page http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/book or if you read the new version of the mindmap at our projectplace in a moment ;)

You can use scheduler module to publish indivdual nodes on a given schedule. There is a wiki recipe using the book module (2 actually) floating around somewhere. Also, even though it is still in alpha you can play with the Liquid module which is a wiki implementation as a module in Drupal. Any node can be made a member of a book. 4.7 book module adds/expands on previous

create book pages
create new books
edit book pages
edit own book pages
outline posts in books
see printer-friendly version

If you set the default content option to create a new revision when edited then you get a wiki like behavior.
