I am of course new. I understand how to "name" the web site in >administer >settings and I see that when I create a new page, that page's name is appended to the web site's name in the title bar of the browser. But I don't know how to name the first page. I suppose more importantly I don't know how to define what is the very first page that lands after the index.php file is first called.

Yes - I feel like a twerp!! Can someone please help?

The front page module may be of interest to you.

Set a slogan in >administer >settings and it will appear in the title tags (of the front page only, followed by your site's name).

For an example, see www.pridnestrovie.net where the slogan is set to "The New Europe". It runs on Drupal 4.6 and an xtemplate theme.

Although Pridnestrovie.net also uses the front page module, you don't have to: Using the slogan to name your title bar will work just as well without the front page module installed.

This was really helpful - thank you and the site is really impressive.

I still a little unclear. Do you have to use the default "node" to have the site name appear to the left of the "|" on the first page, to then have it move to the right of the "|" on subsequent pages?

when i 1st got into drupal!

- node/1 is the default 'homepage'
- you can make any page your 'homepage' by 1st creating the new node and then in assigning it as default frontpage in admin/settings
- frontpage module is good if you want even more functionality, like offering a different page to anon users and another to reg'd users..

- the page title itself is what gets added to the title bar infront of a '|' and then your site name. For me, the node/1's title is used in the page title bar.

Hope that helps a little, and wasn't stuff you already knew? :)

was very helpful. I didn't know this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I create my own default front page then that page name will be on the left of the "|" and the site name on the right.

It seems that only the default home page is the only time the page title is displayed on the right.

the page title is always on the left, and the site name on the right. This is true for homepage and any other page.

because you have defined another default page than the one that comes out of the box. For instance when you browse drupal.org, the first page displays the domain on the left side. After that, on other pages, it shifts to the right.

i am using default node/1 as my homepage, so i am using the one out of the box...in theory! But all pages have the same page title | site name layout for the titles...

Perhaps, it has something to do with the friendselectric theme i am using....?

Hello,

anyone knows how to give another title to node/1? Right now, as mentioned above, it has the same title as site's slogan, which is not what I want.

I tried changing the title according to our requirements in the Home Page Title within meta tag module. But it doesn't change. What else can be done?

www.stratbeans.com - I want to replace the 'Home' with another phrase.

Thanks
