Ok, i understand what primary and secondary links are... but where on earth are they? when i go to configure my theme (which is box_grey) there is no mention of it anywhere... right at the top on the left hand side of the page there is "EDIT PRIMARY LINKS" (this is there permanantly- no matter which menu i am on. logged in or logged out)... that takes me to the menu administration screen. I have tried creating a test menu item.. and then logging out... nothing appears. merely a log in form, and the "EDIT PRIMARY LINKS" at the top. hmmm... what am i missing? i feel a bit thick.

Ok, and how do i get rid of the horrible "edit primary links" at the top of the page, when nobody is logged in? the front page of the site has this... and isnt really relevant to normal users who just wish to browse the site, as its an administration function. I haven't found much menu friendly documentation to guide me through this. I want to develop and customise my menu's and so far its been a little cloudy.
theme setting
In 4.6
admin/themes/settings for xTemplate theme's
Go to the theme page itself for phpTemplate based themes

you can either fill out a bug report, or go into your page.tpl.php in your theme's directory and delete the code for primary links.
