Interest Statement

I am writing to express my interest in becoming a maintainer (or co-maintainer) of the Auth0 module for Drupal.

My Contributions

I have been actively involved in the Drupal Community for over 15 years, and we have clients who are looking to use this module in Drupal 11.

Motivation

My motivation for requesting maintainer status includes:

  • Active usage: I am currently using the Auth0 module in production environments and have practical experience with its functionality and common use cases. I have been working on a 5.x refactor which is really needed for D11 support and to fall inline with Drupal best practices.
  • Community investment: I want to ensure this project remains well-maintained and continues to serve the Drupal community effectively.
  • Technical expertise: I have experience with relevant technologies, such as OAuth, authentication systems, and Drupal module development, which would benefit the project's maintenance.

Each person offering to be maintainer/co-maintainer needs to create their own offer, which needs to be first posted in the project queue.

Thanks for helping me further understand the process @avpaderno!

Will this issue suffice as my request?

@avpaderno - Hi, this issue has been open for more than 14 days. Can we please proceed with my maintainership?

I apologize for the delay in handling this offer: I will contact the maintainers this afternoon. (It's almost 12 PM for me.)

The project link is https://www.drupal.org/project/auth0.

As a side note, the project has been marked deprecated by the current maintainers. I am not sure that means the library used by the module (if the module uses an external library) is no longer compatible with the latest Drupal releases.
As project moderator, I contact the project maintainers independently from that, considering that a module could be rewritten to use a different library (if an external library is effectively used.)

The list of maintainers is quite long. (Actually, there are only maintainers, since they all have full permissions on the project.)

(The following links are only accessible from people who can access /admin/people on drupal.org.)

Thanks @avpaderno

I'm trying to revitalize this module with a 5.0.x version and make it relevant again. I have a client that relies upon it and is investing in pushing things forward.

Let me know if I can do anything else.

I contacted all the maintainers who logged in at least once in the past 12 months. This is one of the messages I sent.

Hello Richard,

I am contacting you because Joel (https://www.drupal.org/u/joelsteidl) offered to become maintainer for Auth0 Single Sign On (https://www.drupal.org/project/auth0), a project for which you are maintainer.

May you post a comment on https://www.drupal.org/project/projectownership/issues/3566435 about accepting or declining the offer? Please do not reply via email; we need a reply on the offer issue.
Without a comment posted on that issue in the next 14 days, Joel will be probably made maintainer.

Project moderators will not remove the existing maintainers/co-maintainers; the project owner will not be replaced either. Maintainers cannot change the project owner; co-maintainers/maintainers can only be removed/added by people who have the permission to administer co-maintainers/maintainers.

As last note: This offer is about being maintainer, which is different from being co-maintainer. A maintainer is a person who has all the drupal.org permissions on a project: Write to VCS, Edit project, Administer maintainers, Maintain issues, Administer releases. A person who does not have all those permissions is a co-maintainer.
If there is any reason for not giving all those permissions, please explain that on the offer issue. We need this to know it was intentional and not a misunderstanding on what the offer required.

Best regards,
Alberto Paderno

The status is Postponed because we are waiting for a reply.

Please post a comment after 14 days, if your offer has not been declined. It will show you are still interested in maintaining this project and it will serve as reminder that a project moderator's action is required.

Hi, @avpaderno!

I accept your offer, and thank you.

Hi,

I'd say there's no problem at all to make you maintainer of Auth0 module. I also spoke to noemi and she agreed with me so welcome on board!

avpaderno’s picture

@joelsteidl Are you still interested in maintaining this module? 15 days are passed since my last comment, but you have not commented back.

@avpaderno - Thanks for following up. I was given maintainership access, so you can close this.
