Hi!

I am planning to start a website with high traffic, I have chosen midPhase shared server. Any one with any bad experience with them? What other host do you recommends?

A few years ago, I opened an account with Anhosting, which is apparently a sister company of midPhase. When I started having trouble with my sites going down in the first couple of weeks, I contacted their support and my account was moved to a midPhase server. I had a good experience with them up until about 3-4 months ago when I started experiencing a lot of down time again. I've not been impressed by their support. Often my sites will go down for hours at a time without any warning and will stay down until I contact support. They blame email problems on the destination servers when I'm able to send to the same servers from other accounts just fine. At one point they took my site down for a week (unfortunately, while I was on vacation), and when I contacted support about it, they inexplicably changed DNS settings for my account, resurrecting the very old version of my site on the old Anhosting server instead.

Just before I started having trouble, I even recommended midPhase to a friend. His experience was as bad or worse than mine. His experience with their support was also bad and since he only had one site live, he quickly moved to an alternate hosting company.

Unfortunately, I don't have an alternative shared host to recommend. I've also tried Dreamhost, but I experienced too much down time and excruciatingly slow page load times, sometimes taking half a minute or more to load a single page.

After reading lots of hosting discussions on drupal.org and elsewhere, I recently signed up for linode.com, a VPS hosting company, and I'm in the process of migrating my sites over there. It's definitely more hassle to set up than shared hosting though, so there is a big trade-off.

Thanks a lot. I guess most are same, some are bigger culprit though.

I had an account with midPhase for a while, but I also had some server stability issues. I've been using iMountain for about two years now, and I've been very happy with them—almost no downtime, good support, etc. Plus, their servers run off their own solar panels. It's a little more expensive than midPhase, Hostgator, etc., but you get what you pay for.

Thanks,
for recommendation. But what now with useless midphase? The price for the new hosting company is added to the price of useless midphase.

midPhase has a 30-day money back guarantee. If you've signed up recently, you could back out. But be sure you've checked into the other host first to make sure that they'll suit your needs and fit your budget. You should also look for others' experiences with them. Maybe mine are abnormally good.

Of course, if you're going to be in development for a while, you could just do your development there and then move to a new host when you're ready to launch.

Thanks for proposals.
I was very very satisfied with Midphase/Anhosting. That must I say. They installed some libraries at request and much more (some technicians are polite and gentle trying to find a solution).
The guarantee period is away, but I cannot imagine how I should update modules and drupal alone (and you are right I am only in the phase of a building of a site).
Because manually you should have a notice of all modules versions and then check all links to the modules download pages and show if there are new versions.

I disabled some modules and now it is functioning. I will report (I hope) which of the modules was the terrible one.

I cannot recognise the module.
This was the only bad 5 days experience, but now I think that it was only bad recognised by midphase technician and the troublemaker is a combination of not stabile modules in drupal installation.
