Problem/Motivation

I am current co-maintainer of Year Only. I have been the only active maintainer since joining the project 1.5 years ago. I want to ensure the module is properly maintained and would like to:

  • Set the status to Actively Maintained
  • Update the project page to reflect current/future features
  • Add documentation
  • Update the default branch

I lack the permissions to do any of these. I have requested elevated permission for months with no response. The last commit/activity from the current owner was 4 years ago on 12 June 2020.

Additionally, I plan to deprecate my similar Year module when it is clear that Year Only will be properly maintained.

Proposed Resolution

Promote justcaldwell to Maintainer.

Attempts to Contact the Current Owner

  1. 14 Aug 2023: Messaged current owner via the contact tab requesting 'Edit project' permission
  2. 23 Aug 2023: Messaged current owner via the contact tab requesting 'Edit project' permission
  3. 20 Feb 2024: Messaged current owner via the contact tab requesting 'Edit project' permission
  4. 01 March 2024: Messaged current owner via Slack DM requesting 'Edit project' permission
  5. 10 June 2024: Messaged current owner via contact tab and Slack DM to let them know I've opened this issue.
  6. 24 June 2024: Messaged owner via contact tab that this issue is now in project ownership queue

Thought I'd give it one last shot. The Year Only issue queue could really use
some work, and I'd be happy to work on adding some features for the

Once the issue has been created, its purpose cannot be changed, at least not to request more permissions on the project.
The offer needs to be for a single role between co-maintainer, maintainer, and project owner; it cannot be an offer to be "maintainer or project owner" or "co-maintainer or maintainer," for example.

Hello Amit,

I am contacting you because Michael (https://www.drupal.org/u/justcaldwell), who is already co-maintainer, offered to become maintainer for Year Only (https://www.drupal.org/project/yearonly), a project you created for which you are project owner and maintainer.

May you post a comment on https://www.drupal.org/project/projectownership/issues/3453698 about accepting or declining the offer? Please do not reply via email; we need a reply on the offer issue.
In the case you accept the offer, you can also add Michael as maintainer, but this is not necessary, as project moderators can add co-maintainers/maintainers to any project.
Without a comment posted on that issue in the next 14 days, Michael will be probably made maintainer.

Project moderators will not remove the existing maintainers/co-maintainers; the project owner will not be replaced either. Maintainers cannot change the project owner; co-maintainers/maintainers can only be removed/added by people who have the permission to administer co-maintainers/maintainers.

A last note: This offer is about being maintainer, which for us means somebody with all the drupal.org permissions on the project: Write to VCS, Edit project, Administer maintainers, Maintain issues, Administer releases. A person who does not have all those permissions is a co-maintainer.
If there is any reason not to make Michael project maintainer, please explain that on https://www.drupal.org/project/projectownership/issues/3453698.

I made justcaldwell maintainer. He just needed two permissions more to be maintainer: Edit project and Administer maintainers.
