Title: Publish tagged release » Plan for CKEditor Anchor Link 3.0.0
Category: Task » Plan

Let's make this into a plan issue.

Maintainer: what issues would you like help resolving before you're comfortable tagging a release? I have access to a few sites that want to use this, so we're happy to help bug test & improve things.

Not maintainer, but after testing the 3.x branch my biggest issue currently is #3391107: Empty anchor links are not editable.

@DamienMcKenna we have PR for empty anchor edit, please review and merge into the 3.0
Or Please ad me to module maintainer I will do it.

+1 Agree. Even if the module still has issues, the alpha version can be published. The critical issues can be mentioned in the module description or in the release notes.
If the critical issues are more or less fixed, we can release the beta version.

I agree too. 3.0.0-alpha1 will speed up testing for sure.
The 3.0.x branch is for Dylan. ( I respcet that, and thank you for helping)
He is maintaining the module for CKEditor 5
Hoping that he has time for a quick pre-release 3.0.0-alpha1 tag.

I'm working on another D10 upgrade today for a site that uses this module so I plan to take a look at this today. I agree that this is ready for an alpha version, we already have it in use on some sites, but there's a PR for https://www.drupal.org/project/anchor_link/issues/3391107 which I'd like to test and probably merge in first.

I've merged in a few fixes that were awaiting review including that one and tagged an alpha release. Thanks all for your testing and improvements.

Thank you, Dylan, big time :)

Thank you, Northern Commerce

Tested with Drupal 10
Basic needs are their, started to use it
Hoping that a new Drupal core issue could be created with a patch/MR to have your work in Drupal core.

#3405819: Add the Anchor Link ~3 module and configure the CKEditor 5 Rich editor text format to use it

OPTION #1: Use "drupal/anchor_link": "^3": CKEditor 5 version, requires external library.

Please, feel free to edit the description of the project.
Better to recorder the list of options.
Having the 3.0.x branch as the first option.
Changed the default branch to 3.0.x too.

We may need to clean up old images, and text.
Happy with any provided screenshots.

Curious what the maintainers feel is left before the 3.x branch can be marked stable.

I'm working in a project that generally requires a stable release of contributed Drupal modules.

I'd be interested to see a punch list of issues.

Title: Plan for CKEditor Anchor Link 3.0.0 » Plan for CKEditor Anchor Link 3.x
Issue summary: View changes

Agree with @vordude above — it would be useful to chart a course to a stable release.

I'm also curious about plans for future development given that the CKE5 maintainers are now working on their own anchor ("Bookmarks") plugin.

justcaldwell’s picture

Noting that the latest release of CKEditor 5 (44.0.0) now includes the Bookmark plugin — CKEditor's native UI for creating anchor links.

Additionally, work on link UI enhancements to ease linking to "on page" anchors/bookmarks is being tracked in this github issue. See the second video on that page for a demo.

Drupal ^10.4 || ^11.1 now ship version 44.0.0 of ckeditor5 and the Bookmark plugin. I created CKEditor 5 Bookmark to enable the plugin for use/testing.

Still the right place to decide the direction, now that CKEditor 5 ships Bookmark in core 44 and up. Not deprecating, see #3528879.
