I added comments to each of the issues we discussed today.

I also added #3318110: [meta] Reorganize Block items in the administration menu and made it a parent of

Together, those issues would move

  • Structure > Block layout > Custom block library to Content > Blocks
  • Structure > Block layout to Appearance or Configuration
  • Structure > Block layout > Custom block library > Block types to Structure > Blocks

Is there already an issue for changing "Custom block" to "Content block"? I know we discussed the idea at the meeting.

I think we want to update the paths to match the menu structure. That will affect the breadcrumbs. I am not sure whether the current issues already do that.

My new meta issue is a child of #2755613: Restructure the admin interface Information Architecture, which is quite ambitious. I think there are a lot of good ideas there. Instead of organizing by Structure, Content, Configuration, that issue proposes organizing under

  • Site building
  • Site configuration
  • Content management

That is my summary: you will have to look at the issue to see the specifics. I think that categorization matches the different personas: site builder, site administrator, content editor.

thank you for creating the meta issue and adding the issues!

one fyi. in your third line a small error slipped in
Structure > Block layout > Custom block library > Block types moves to Structure > Blocks types not that anyone gets confused by that.

and there isn't an issue for the micro copy Custom block. The change from Custom block types to Block types was introduced in #2987964: Move custom block types admin link to admin/structure so maybe the change for Custom block and changing it to Content block could be introduced in #2862564: Move Custom block library to Content? or would it be cleaner to create a single separate issue for the micro copy changes of both issues?

will take a look at #2755613: Restructure the admin interface Information Architecture over the weekend. i've noticed i am already following it.
