I am interested in visiting a site built with Drupal that has implemented the Swish-e indexer module. We are considering Drupal with the Swish-e Indexer for our intranet as we have a requirement to search documents such as PDF files, word docs, spreadsheets, PPT, etc. Could someone please post a few links to sites that have implemented Swish-e Indexer? Also, from what I have read, Swish-e doesn't search PPT. Is there something out there that does? General feedback on advanced document search mechanisms for Drupal CMS is appreciated.

Thanks!

I have used swish-e in the past but not for indexing ppt or for Drupal. I quite like it and they have an active and helpful mailing list.

I believe swish-e can use plug-ins to index most file types (I suspect wv will index ppt files).

You would probably want to enable 'friendly urls' so that the site appears as more than one page!

I chose swish-e for my project as I wanted a compiled executable that would run on Windows. I imagine it would work OK with Drupal, but you might need to fiddle with the Perl scripts if you want to index a Drupal site via http.

I did not know (since it was not mentioned in the install readme) that swish-e needed ActivePerl to be installed to function. So I installed it without that option. Will that affect Drupal functionality?

Also, all the paths in the swish-e settings are for linux - what do you put in for a Windows install?

Thanks,
