prodigyjoe Hello, Joseph here:wave:Tuning in from Chicago, ILDrupal.org username: prodigyjoe

irinaz hi, Irina zaks, pacific timezone (edited)

2️⃣  Let’s spend some time today looking at the latest prototype for the project browser. You can load up the latest prototype using the Gitpod link on the project page https://www.drupal.org/project/project_browser.   It takes a while to load. You will need to then log in and select Extend and Browse from the Admin menu. The results are close to what the Site builder Subcommittee had decided, but needs some tweaks

AmyJune (volkswagenchick) I’ll be doing some interviews this week with @Devon Ek @jjcs227 and @jjcs227
leslieg Let us know what changes you feel should be considered for the default project browser
leslieg Was anyone able to  spin up a prototype? Does anyone need hep?
tim Doing it now
AmyJune (volkswagenchick) I had no issues.
tim I didn't have my ssh setup yet  so got these instructions.I am at step 5/ 6 of these instructionsI do not see a button or link to add key
tim Is this where I am supposed to be @shaal?
tim There is possibly more info I thought I needed to 'lock' in my username between D.O. and Git so I checked the box at the bottom and clicked save, then it cameback and asked again Do you really want this to be locked in?  I confirmed then clicked on the ssh keys link.   Maybe messed up there??   (That wasn't part of the instructions)
leslieg I’m not sure @tim Maybe @chrisfromredfin or @shaal can point you in the right direction
shaal Hello
shaal :eyes:
shaal I think d.o moved some things to gitlab since we wrote that, let me check where it is now
shaal Until a better integration is possible -Generate a private key and a public key inside the Gitpod workspaceCopy the public key - to that page in Gitlab and save itRun the script 04-confirm-ssh-setup.sh in GitpodIf it can make a successful connection - it will save the private key in your Gitpod user account.
shaal So it's a one time setup. After that every time you open a new Drupalpod instance, it is already aware of your private key, that allow you to connect (and push code) to d.o
shaal Please let me know if you have any questions, or if anything there is not working as expected
tim So we have github, gitlab, git, gitpod, drupalpod, allll mixed together.  I think I looked through gitpod didn't find what I was looking for -- but since I wrote above I have now figured out I don't need to get ssh keys working to view the browse feature that we are working on.  Only need ssh to push code, which kind of knew, just forgot.    For now I am good but will need to comeback to it at some point I guess.
shaal Right

3️⃣. We have received a lot of feedback so far on folks not understanding what the lines in the search bar are for.  (This was in the Figma, but it doesn’t look like advanced search is in the prototype yet),  They ask about how to change the default search options, but have no idea how to do that. Suggestions to make this clearer to site builders and those new to Drupal?

leslieg This is the latest figma but still doesn’t quite represent what we’re going for for MVP https://www.figma.com/file/1Z8xrcP2zgnO6BXlu9ZeQ5/Project-browser?node-i...
AmyJune (volkswagenchick) I am a firm advocate of labels and not icons… “Advanced search” seems very clear. or “Advanced options”

4️⃣. I have received feedback from a lot of listening sessions that the user does not understand what the default search for is based on. There is text in the figma and in the latest prototype, however this text is not understandable by site builders and those new to Drupal. Also, the majority of folks didn’t even read the text. Any recommendations on improvements?

leslieg From the latest prototype - “Recommended projects must be covered by Drupal’s security team, have at least one release, be actively maintained, be a full (not sandbox) project, and have an issue queue available.”
tim I have received feedback from a lot of listening sessions that the user does not understand what the default search for is based on.What is the ratio? (edited)
leslieg From Figma -  Top modules must be covered by Drupal’s security team , have at least one release, be actively maintained  , be a full project, and have an issue queue available.
leslieg @tim From all newer site builders and those newer to Drupal. More experienced folks understand them, but they are not our target audience
AmyJune (volkswagenchick) I think the target audience is the most important consideration…
leslieg agree on that. Any suggestions from this group on how to better present the defaults being used in not so technical terms?
tim @leslieg you are referring to this text here?
tim What if we gave feedback to the designers saying we need to style this differently because it's not getting attention.   (or is that an option)Change the font face etcMy eye was not drawn to it until maybe the forth thing. 15 seconds later.

5️⃣ @chrisfromredfin and I discussed best path forward for working on each of the top 100 modules. I will be creating a meta or parent issue for each module (project), with child issues for each of these - logo, short description and categories. We will leave those issues open for a few weeks to get community input, then we will move the issues to the maintainers for feedback and implementation

tim An issue for each one?
AmyJune (volkswagenchick) and tag them Project Browser Initiative? please
tim Not opposed to that,   its just going to be alot of work??
AmyJune (volkswagenchick) I think an issue for each them is key. It breaks up the tasks into more do-able chunks and by skill set
AmyJune (volkswagenchick) This might be something that can be collaborated on during DC?
AmyJune (volkswagenchick) But then it puts it off…
leslieg Yes, we could use help from the Discover Drupal and scholarship recipients at DrupalCon

6️⃣ Before we do #5 above, we need to add to documentation to let folks know what makes a good logo, what makes a good short description and how to select categories for your module. Any feedback on what these guidelines should include is helpful.

mradcliffe https://www.drupal.org/docs/develop/managing-a-drupalorg-theme-module-or...
mradcliffe I also noticed that the template has the heading level 3 at the top for Synopsis, and we no longer want that, so we should probably remove that from the template
