Problem/Motivation
Rules module is fairly stable and usable in Drupal 9 or greater, and I have a need to provide a functional port and migration for Button Field module to Drupal 9 or greater.
Proposed resolution
Although I don't have much time, I'm offering to minimally-maintain a Drupal 9 version of Button Field based on my work in #2807697: Complete Drupal 8.8 and greater port as a "2.0.x" branch.
I would not plan to opt-in to security coverage until another member of the community steps forward to actively maintain Button Field.
I would plan to look at fixing follow-up AJAX related unimplemented features or bugs with the current work in the issue fork.
Other options:
- I can fork and provide Button Field as a custom module for the site that requires it, and change Button Field project ownership to the unsupported user.
Issue timeline
- 2021.01.14: Initially reached out to @BassistJimmyJam regarding a Drupal 9 port, and offering to help get the issue fork merged and stable.
- 2022.01.26: Created issue.
- 2022.02.09: Moved issue to Drupal.org project ownership issue queue.
Remaining tasks
- Make a decision whether this module should change ownership to either unsupported or to a minimally-maintained module.

mradcliffeI haven't heard back yet on the initial inquiry in January or on this issue.
I'm moving to the "Drupal.org project ownership" queue.

avpadernoI contacted BassistJimmyJam, project owner and sole maintainer.
I changes status, as we are waiting for a reply.

avpadernoBeing maintainer means the user has all the permissions on the project, including administering co-maintainers/maintainers. Otherwise, the user is just a co-maintainer.
mradcliffeI'm okay with changing the request to be a co-maintainer if we want to close this.
Thank you, @BassistJimmyJam, @apaderno.
