The project is currently marked as owned by 'abandoned projects' so I'm not sure how I go about contacting the original owner.
Assume I just escalate straight to this queue?
I couldn't find anything in the docs for what to do in this scenario

thank you for offering to revive this.

When a project is owned by "Unsupported Projects", there is no owner to contact. The process only requires you to contact the owner if the owner's contact tab is enabled. In this case, your request can be be processed by the site moderators immedately, without the "contact owner" step.

However, the process also says:

When opening an issue for a project that has opted into security coverage, you must explicitly say in the issue summary if you have that permission.

This project has opted into security coverage. Looking at your quite impressive profile, it is very likely you have this permission, but before this can proceed, I'll appreciate if you added this to the issue summary.

Also, we don't add co-maintainers to projects owned by "Unsupported Projects". If someone offer to maintain one of these, that person is added as owner.
