1️⃣  Do you have suggested topics you are looking to discuss? Post in this thread and we’ll open threads for them as appropriate.

dww Sounded like folks wanted to keep item 2.3 for “barriers” (instead of “frustrations”)
larowlan ok, will add it back
larowlan how do we keep up the activity levels from the first few months

2️⃣ .1️⃣  Wins - what wins have you had this fortnight - share your successes!

larowlan #3053887: Add test coverage and document why inline blocks require a new revision to be created when modified, regardless of whether a new revision of the parent has been created got in, which was one that I think @acbramley flagged in a previous meeting
Michael (g-brodiei) Not really smashing bugs, but I finally got my Drupal Certificate after knowing and using Drupal for 7 years!! Gaining some more coding powers :joy:

2️⃣ .:two: Thanks - a space for callouts to other contributors who’ve helped you this fortnight

larowlan I was looking over the RTBC queue yesterday and it seemed like @Kristen Pol (she/her) or @quietone had looked at nearly all the issues I looked at. You two are smashing it! Thanks
Kristen Pol (she/her) I've seen lots of action/help in the queue from @longwave, @jungle, @dww, and @larowlan. Thanks!
quietone Good to know it has helped.
quietone for help with orphan comments, jonathanshaw
Ridhima Abrol Thank you @larowlan and @jungle for the quick help on different issues! It helped me work on the issues and move them forward quickly.

3️⃣  Core bug statistics - current state of open bugs

larowlan Another fortnight where we just kept our noses in front - 65 new bugs. 66 issues closed with ‘Bug smash initiative’ tag
lendude We are doing awesome triage of older issues, is it also an idea to put ‘triage at the gate’ on the map? It happens a lot more already then the triage of old issues, so less pressing as a an initiative need perhaps, just thinking out load
lendude I try to do this for the views queue and see that grow and grow so not sure how much it helps

4️⃣  Bug I’d most like to see fixed

larowlan would love to see more action on #2906919: Allow users to create a block content entity with a specific UUID if it is a missing dependency of a config object, came up again in #australia-nz
quietone #2978320: [backport] rdf comment storage load should not load NULL comments and it is a candidate for why rolling back migrations via the UI fails
larowlan reviewed that @quietone just one minor nitpick that I think is copy/pasta, looks solid
quietone Yep, copy/paste errors - that is me!
Kristen Pol (she/her) Would love this one to get laid to rest: #2783277: Bartik theme doesn't allow to quick edit image fields
Ridhima Abrol What should be the approach on this one?How can we proceed with this: #2577219: Single item configuration export form config_name does not have "- Select -" as it's first option
larowlan I think we need to go back to the smallest set of changes that work @Ridhima Abrol - I thought I did that in my patch, but I got it wrong and went to far, so let’s start with your patch at 33 and see if that fixes the issue reported by @partyka - if it doesn’t we might need to create a new issue and postpone this one - with the new issue addressing why `Select::processSelect  isn’t called in ajax callbacks
larowlan that one looks really gnarly @Kristen Pol (she/her)
Ridhima Abrol Thanks @larowlan. Will look into this and figure out whether we need to create a new issue or not!
larowlan feel free to ask questions in the channel any time @Ridhima Abrol - thanks for sticking with iti
amjad1233 #2879648: Redirects from aliased paths aren't triggered

2️⃣ .3️⃣  Barriers - what’s been a bit of a roadblock for you this fortnight

larowlan for me, counting in sequence it seems :joy:
larowlan been spending a lot of my spare time messing about with non-core stuff
pameeela Lack of time :weary: feel like I lost momentum and having trouble getting it back
Kristen Pol (she/her) I feel like I RTBCed a bunch of stuff that seemed solid but many we're bounced back so I'm questioning my review skillz... (yes I misspelled that on purpose) (edited)
larowlan Please don’t question your reviews, core is vast and no-one can know everything (edited)
larowlan e.g. I reviewed a patch last night, lendude re-rolled with my suggestion, and then jungle found something else
quietone I'm trying to complete a small set of issues - so waiting on reviews. I don't want to be spread too thin, if you know what I mean.
jungle You are great always.  @Kristen Pol (she/her), And you are not alone :slightly_smiling_face: . “Update core modules to use the new batch builder” #2875279: Update core modules to use the new batch builder#comment-13789550 I’ve made 10 patches for this one already. But it’s in NW still. (edited)
larowlan see this slide and the next two http://rowlandsgroup.com/ds.core-til/#/9/1
Kristen Pol (she/her)
jungle Thanks for sharing, read and bookmarked. @larowlan
larowlan @jungle there’s a video recording somewhere I think. i was super nervous because webchick was in the audience
larowlan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leE5tH1wCQg
larowlan this is from IRC days and contains a lot of personal anecdotes, so it may not have aged well
amjad1233 I was having trouble getting time for last few sessions. Sometimes the bug issues I generally work on gets too much comms and due to me being regularly checking it just becomes overwhelming to get back.
jungle Webchick is a kind person, we’ve met in 2016 in Mumbai Airport after DrupalCon Asia. I had a chance sat right next to her flying Mumbai to Beijing on the same flight for about 8 hours (She transferred in Beijing airport). I made my first Drupal core contribution during DrupalCon Asia, but when she asked me what the issue was. I totally forgot it, only remembered that it’s entity-related and told her that.  @larowlan
larowlan oh yeah she’s a legend - being nervous was totally on me :slightly_smiling_face:
lendude I love that talk @larowlan watched it many times over the years, always wanted to thank you for that, always forgot, so…THANK YOU!
lendude Barrier: time (vacation time with the kids, other things to focus on :slightly_smiling_face: )
larowlan vacation++ kids++
partyka took vacation this week. Also, still new to core contrib in general

I like the idea of setting up a limited number of focus issues, but not sure if slack is the right medium for this, it feels a little transient. If we get a nice discussion on other stuff going it will just get lost in the scroll back

lendude A new slack channel where users can only post in threads would work, but that doesn’t appear to be a thing we can make slack enforce
larowlan we used to use a spreadsheet on committer calls - how about that?
larowlan I think that’s better than slack
lendude Yeah, using a Google sheet sounds good, then we don’t need another tag which is good
larowlan ok i’ll set that up tomorrow
Kristen Pol (she/her) Spreadsheet is great, thanks!
partyka So, we use MS Teams internally, and it has this awesome feature where you can embed an excel spreadsheet directly into the “Notes” area associated with a channel. Does Slack have any similar feature?
partyka (or any document for that matter)

larowlan
Okay team, Bugsmash meeting six is over. Thanks all for coming! Please feel free to keep chatting in the threads. I’ll work on getting the notes on d.o in the next 24 hours.
Out of :five: we made a decision to try a more targeted approach to issues.
The proposal is to try and reduce the number of items in this list:
To try and do that - we’re proposing that these meetings going forwards will take the top 15 issues from that list (they’re sorted by oldest first) and try to find someone in this meeting to take the next step required to move the issue forwards.

Participants:

larowlan, Bob McDonald (ultrabob) he/him, kimb0, dww, Ridhima Abrol, Griffyn Heels, Kristen Pol (she/her), acbramley, pameeela, quietone, jungle, Michael (g-brodiei), el7cosmos (he/him), amjad1233, lendude, partyka
