On https://2018.tcdrupal.org/sessions/proposed I'd like to modify the text to cater to non-Drupal audiences better:
Issue I ran into:
When sharing the proposed sessions page, even for people who I wrote a lengthy pitch explaining that they can submit talks that are not Drupal related and that's totally fine. They still reported hesitation on doing that given that:
1. It's a Drupal camp
2. The text says it's looking for Drupal talks.
We can improve #2 by changing the following text to something else. Current text:
A big part of our camp is Session day. Sessions are presented by participants like you! It's a great way to give back and share your knowledge and love of Drupal. IF your session is selected, we'll even give you a free ticket to camp!
Session submissions are now open! Submit your own proposal(s). You will need to login or create a user account to submit a session.
Deadline: session submissions will close April 29th at midnight CDT.
Let's iterate on that text below.

minneapolisdan commentedHow about also adding in this:
New and veteran speakers are all welcome. Potential topics could include: web development, UX and UI design, trends online, open source software, content management systems, javascript, accessibility, project management, user testing, website case studies, SEO, digital marketing, diversity and inclusion in tech, careers in tech, community building.. and of course, Drupal-related content.

stpaultim commentedI like the suggestions provided. I was going to suggest providing a list of possible/suggested topics. I think that if done correctly, such a list provides specific ideas without limiting potential speakers. Midcamp has done this well in the past. The suggestion by @minneapolisdan goes a long way in that direction.
But, we could provide even more specific suggestions if we wanted. I'd volunteer to make such a list, but I'm not sure I have the bandwidth. If anyone else has time to create a list of suggested or possible topics designed to inspire (but not limit) potential speakers, please speak up.

cosmicdreams commentedI recommend the elimination of the word: "even" so that "camp!" can go up a line.
